To connect other devices to your MacBook with Thunderbolt 3, you need to know what kind of connector your device is using. For example, if your monitor connects with the mini Display port, if it was now purchased for Thunderbolt 2, then you need an adapter that can convert the mini Display port to USB-C so it can be connected to your MacBook. How do I connect multiple devices to Thunderbolt 3?

The best way to do this is with a dock or hub for MacBook. A dock allows you to connect this to one or more ports on your MacBook, in return for opening up many more ports in the dock. Depending on what you need, you can get a dock with virtually any kind of ports in it, and with the option of many different functionalities.
