To connect other devices to your MacBook with Thunderbolt 3, you need to know what kind of connector your device is using. For example, if your monitor connects with the mini Display port, if it was now purchased for Thunderbolt 2, then you need an adapter that can convert the mini Display port to USB-C so it can be connected to your MacBook.
