This method allows you to maintain a similar appearance compared to before switching to smart bulbs. Alternatively, you can use a smart bulb holder, which is placed between the bulb and the socket, allowing it to control the power supply to the bulb. In most cases, this provides the same functionality as a smart bulb, but allows you to use regular bulbs and retain the functionality. This may prove to be more cost-effective in the long run, but not necessarily the most aesthetically pleasing, as the bulb inserted into a smart bulb holder will protrude further than if it were without.
The Best Smart Lighting Option
The best smart lighting solution for you depends on the type of lighting you have in your home or would like to connect. In general, there are three options for regular ceiling or wall lamps. You can either replace the bulb itself with a smart bulb, which is as easy as installing any other bulb. Alternatively, you can insert a smart bulb holder, which can accommodate the same bulbs as the lamp previously used. Another option is to use a smart switch to handle the power connection to the lamp, which is advantageous as it can be used for more than just lamps and therefore offers more flexibility. However, if you have floor lamps or any other type of lamp that plugs into an outlet, you can benefit from using a smart plug, which provides the same functionality as the other options, but is simply inserted into the outlet.
