In recent years, the Mac mini has been equipped with an HDMI port as well as a Thunderbolt port, which means you can have multiple monitors connected at the same time. Mac mini has always been a bit of an oddball, for example it was one of the last Mac computers you could put new ram and hard drive in and it can still today be easily disassembled, even though apple's other computers that use the same hardware are completely closed.
Mac mini has processor, graphics card, ram and hard drives from portable computers, that's how Apple has made it so small and cheap. Mac mini comes with both i5 and i7 processors, but no less than that.
The latest version of the Mac mini is from late 2012, this suggests that Apple doesn't see the Mac mini as particularly important and therefore doesn't upgrade it. It has the second latest type of graphics card and processors, and we expect a new version to come very soon.
The Mac mini can be easily rebuilt so that it has both a real hard drive and a ssd in the box. However, you should be aware that there may be a difference between the different mac mini sizes, so it may only be in the "server" verssion that there is room for the extra portable disk.
