Comprehensive Connectivity

We call this USB-C dock a 13-in-1 USB-C dock for the simple reason that it has a total of 31 ports ;) This means it has all the connections you need for your Mac and more. Most of the ports you will use daily, and a few you might only need once a year, but that's where it's great to have a really good and versatile USB-C dock.

Port Specifications

The dock has a male USB-C connector and female ports including: HDMI with up to 4K resolution, RJ-45 network port with 1Gbps/100mbps/10mbps, 4x USB 3.0 with 5Gbps, mini jack for audio, VGA with up to 1080p, USB-C 3.1 for charging up to 85W, SD card, and Micro SD card.

HDMI Capabilities

The HDMI port can handle a single screen with 4K resolution - it's HDMI 1.4, so that's 4K at 30Hz. It also supports 1080p, 1200p, 1440p, etc., at 60Hz and above. For example, 2560 × 1440 at 75Hz or 1920x1080 at up to 240Hz.

Video Port Limitations

Although the dock has 3 video ports, HDMI and VGA, it does not support 2 screens on your Mac. It can only display the same screen on both monitors because USB-C does not support multiple screens per port - this would require a Thunderbolt 3 dock.

SD and MicroSD Card Slots

Almost all cameras and camcorders come with SD cards, and with this dock, it becomes super easy to transfer pictures and videos from the camera to your Mac without needing cables. An SD card slot in your Mac is also much faster than a USB 2.0 connection, which is limited by old technology. Unfortunately, the new MacBook Pro models no longer have an SD card reader, so you need an external one. Fortunately, this dock has a slot for it, and it runs at full USB 3.1 speed, which also applies to the MicroSD card slot. MicroSD is what most action cameras and drones use.

Office Efficiency

When you get to the office, it's annoying to have to connect many cables to your Mac. With this adapter, you can do it all with a single connection to your Mac. The adapter supports charging, HDMI for a screen, USB for a mouse, one for a keyboard, and the next-to-last for an external hard drive. Also, connect a network cable to avoid relying on Wi-Fi, and finally a couple of SD cards, and you're good to go.

Bandwidth Considerations

This dock has a maximum bandwidth of 10Gbps, so it is somewhat limited if you, for example, connect 4 USB 3.0 drives to it - they each require 5Gbps. This can easily be solved by using one of the other ports on your MacBook for the extra hard drives.

The adapter is also great to carry around, so you never lack a connection when you're out with your MacBook, precisely because the adapter has all the ports you might need, whether it's a USB port or a screen.

For example, we try to minimize our energy emissions by using as little packaging as possible on our products - this applies to both the transport from our suppliers abroad and the transport to the end-user in Denmark.

We also do what we can to avoid plastic in our packaging, so the packaging can go to incineration and be converted into district heating.

Many of our products come from China, where it is actually difficult to get products with as little packaging as possible. This is because the larger the packaging, the more attention the product attracts on a store shelf.

With that attitude, it's obviously a bit of an uphill battle, but many small streams make a big river, and Mackabler is proud to contribute to the fight for a greener environment.
