We call this USB-C dock an 11-in-1 USB-C dock for the simple reason that it has a total of 11 ports ;) This means that it has all the connectors you need for your Mac and more . You will need most of the connectors every day, and a few of them you will probably only need once a year, but this is where it is nice to have a really good and versatile USB-c dock.

The dock has a USB-C connector in male and female connectors, it has: HDMI with up to 4K resolution, RJ-45 network connector with 1Gbps/100mbps/10mbps, 4x USB 3.0 with 5Gbps, mini jack for sound, VGA with up to 1080p, USB-C 3.1 for charging up to 85W, SD card and Micro SD card.

The HDMI port can handle a single screen with 4K resolution - it's HDMI 1.4, so it's 4K at 30Hz. However, it also manages 1080p, 1200p, 1440p etc at 60Hz and above. For example 2560 × 1440 at 75Hz or 1920x1080 at up to 240Hz.

Although the dock has 2 video ports, HDMI and VGA, it does not support 2 screens on your Mac. At most, it can display the same screen on both screens because USB-C doesn't support multiple displays per port - that would require a Thunderbolt 3 dock.

When you get to the office, it's annoying to have to connect many cables to your Mac. With this adapter you can do it all with a single plug into your Mac. The adapter supports charging, HDMI to a monitor, USB to a mouse, one to a keyboard and the second last to an external hard drive. Also connect a network plug, so you don't have to depend on wifi and then finally a couple of SD cards, and then you're good to go.

This dock has a bandwidth of 10Gbps max, so it is a bit limited if, for example, you put 4 USB 3.0 disks in it - they require 5Gbps each. However, this can easily be solved by using one of the other ports in your MacBook for the extra hard drives.

The adapter is also nice to carry around, so you never lack a plug when you're out with your MacBook, precisely because the adapter has all the plugs you should be able to use, whether it's a USB plug or a screen.
